We are currently living in unprecedented times as COVID-19 changes the dynamic of daily living, work situations, and church gathering across the globe. If you look to the news you will see people calling this a worldwide health and financial crisis.
The dictionary defines a crisis as:
A time of intense difficulty, trouble or danger
A time when a difficult or important decision must be made
The turning point of a disease when an important change takes place, indicating either recovery or death
We are living in a time that fits in that definition: a time of difficulty, trouble and danger where many must make important and difficult decisions. And these decisions can make the difference between recovering and death for both people and economies.
Thankfully, God is never surprised when a crisis emerges. Throughout scripture we see God’s response to crisis whether it be persecution, oppression or pandemic:
Exodus 3:9 “And now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me, and I have seen how severely the Egyptians are oppressing them. Therefore, go!...”
Psalm 34:17-20 “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all. He keeps all his bones; not one of them in broken.”
John 16:33 “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart I have overcome the world.”
Acts 11:19-21 “Now those who had been scattered by the persecution that broke out when Stephen was killed traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus and Antioch, spreading the word only among Jews. Some of them, however, men from Cyprus and Cyrene, went to Antioch and began to speak to Greeks also, telling them the good news about the Lord Jesus. The Lord’s hand was with them, and a great number of people believed and turned to the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 12:9 “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Chris may rest upon me.’”
States and countries will continue to make decisions during crisis. As believers, we need to choose to look to faith over fear every single day. We at Wisdom want to partner with you in remembering that God is with us. He hears our cries, and He desires that ALL would experience His grace and salvation.
We want to celebrate what He is up to through each of you and your local church in this crisis. Just as the persecution of the early church caused great numbers to believe and turn to the Lord, each time the church is challenged it grows. We at Wisdom want to hear what God has been doing through this crisis with your people and in your community!
Send us your stories, your photos and your videos of how you see God showing up as His people choose faith over fear. We would like to celebrate with all that God is doing!
Please reach out if you or your church needs specific prayer during this time. As your partner in ministry, we work to expand God's Kingdom and want to partner with you through this season as we always have.
